Ready to Retire?

Am I ready to retire?

I'm not sure but I've been thinking about it a lot lately.
So how do I decide?
How did you decide?

I'd love to hear from you if you have already made the decision, or if you're struggling with it just like me!

For me, having just turned 63, and having had a couple of heart attacks, you might think the answer is obvious. And yes, I'd love to retire from my regular job. But I'm not ready to retire from life! I want to make sure that I still have a life. Preferably, I'd like to have a life that still has some purpose, that still gives me a reason to get up in the morning, a life that makes a contribution, in short, I'd like a life that has some "Style".

I've decided to set up this blog, and soon a website, where I can share the journey of this next part of my life with you. In my opinion, journeys should be undertaken with a partner or friend - a journey travelled on my own is somehow incomplete. So, I invite you to come on the journey with me. You can do that by just sitting and watching but I hope that you'll join in by sharing your experiences and ideas, and offering advice based on what your journey has taught you.

I'll be touching on many ideas and trying to find answers to many questions that I think are relevant for me - and hopefully they will also be of interest to you. This will include such things as retirement lifestyle, the importance of friends, relatives, and community in my new life, as well as travel, leisure, activities, and more. Please tell me what I haven't thought of, what I haven't considered, what I should take into account.

My hope for this blog is that it helps me, but also that it may help you and many others, to live a worthwhile and enjoyable retirement.

Please check in again soon and let me know what you think.

Marty

P.S. I'm still new to this so please feel free to pass this on to others or to critique me (gently).
